Lectures throughout the two days and observing patients as they come into the practice for Invisalign treatment. Agenda Attached.


Doctors should fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on the evening of Wednesday, June 17, 2020, and depart in the evening on Friday, June 19, 2020. The orthodontic office is located 10 minutes from the airport.


Accommodations should be booked individually and are not included in the course fee. There are three hotels within walking distance of Dr. Tai’s office. Should it be raining, a very short (3 minute) taxi ride may be necessary.


Doctors who also wish to attend the Clincheck course on June 20 should register separately for the course. Doctors who attend the immersion course and signs-up for the Clincheck course qualifies for the discounted rate of USD $600.

Day 1 - Thursday, June 18, 2020

9:00 am – 10:15 am: Session A: Clinic Tour & Philosophy towards Invisalign treatment

Dr. Sandra Tai will discuss her general practice philosophy. Case selection criteria - the cases that fit into the Invisalign ‘sweet spot’ will be highlighted. Communication and patient education are the keys to acceptance of Invisalign as a treatment modality.  Dr. Tai will share how she presents Invisalign treatment to patients at the new patient consultation appointment. The paradigm shift required in treatment planning for Invisalign cases will be discussed. There will be a specific discussion on treating Teens with Invisalign.

10:30 am - 12:00 pm: Session B: Treatment Planning, Case Review & Case Discussion I

Invisalign cases that are presented by attending doctors will be reviewed. Orthodontic records, treatment plans, and ClinCheck set-ups will be reviewed and discussed. Modifications for existing ClinChecks will be requested online.


12:00 am - 1:00 pm: Lunch


1:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Clinical Session with patients in the clinic

6:00 pm Onwards: Group Dinner hosted by Align Technology


Day 2 - Friday. June 19, 2020

9:00 am – 10:15 am: Session C: Attachments, IPR, Advanced ClinCheck Techniques, Staging Tooth Movements, Making Difficult Tooth Movements in ClinCheck clinically predictable

*This session will include anticipating advanced tooth movements and designing modifications in ClinCheck to ensure that tooth movements will be clinically predictable. There will be a brief discussion on various types of attachments and their functions, as well as IPR technique. A clinical checklist for ensuring the treatment is on track when the patient comes in for appointments will be reviewed.

This session will also include a “hands-on” session on using 3D controls in ClinCheck Pro and the updated ClinCheck Pro 5.0

10:30 am - 12:00 pm: Session D: Treatment Planning, Case Review & Case Discussion II

Invisalign cases that are presented by attending doctors will be reviewed. Orthodontic records, treatment plans, and ClinCheck set-ups will be reviewed and discussed. Modifications for existing ClinChecks will be requested online.


12:00am - 1:00pm: Lunch

1:00 pm - 3:15 pm: Session E: Trouble Shooting and Finishing Invisalign Cases

This session will discuss what steps to take if the treatment does not ‘track’ as planned.  Common undesirable tooth movements with Invisalign include unwanted intrusion of lateral incisors, failure of teeth to de-rotate and development of a buccal open bite. Dr. Tai will discuss how to handle, and troubleshoot for these clinical scenarios. She will also share some tips for finishing cases including “hands-on” practice with detailing pliers.

3:30 pm - 5:00 pm: Session F: Class II Treatments with Invisalign


In this session, Dr. Tai will discuss indications for treatment and treatment mechanics for the treatment of Class II malocclusion with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment planning.  Various methods for Class II correction such as Class II elastic simulation jump, working with auxiliaries such as Carriere distalizer, sequential distalization of maxillary molars, Class II extraction and surgical cases will be discussed.


* This program will be customized for attending doctors. Once registration is complete, we will send out an e-mail for requests from doctors as to what they would like to learn specifically and Dr. Tai will do her best to accommodate those requests.
